Summer 2027: Electrical Engineering Intern

  • Job Description:
    • Electrical Engineering Intern

INNOVATE WITHOUT BOUNDARIES! At Milwaukee Tool we firmly believe that our People and our Culture are the bookends of our success. Our employees work with a passion to never settle and always improve, enabling us to push the status quo and change the lives of our users.

Our Engineering Team is responsible for creating innovative solutions that address the unmet needs of our customers. We do this through increasing our users’ productivity by integrating new technologies and methodologies to deliver new-to-world products and product enhancements. We work together with our users through observation, interviews, and field research, making them part of the solution process. Our team defines critical benefits to our end users, constructs prototypes, and evaluates product designs considering unmet user needs, durability, materials, and manufacturing processes. Working cross functionally, we perform a wide variety of engineering and design tasks including translating user observations to insights, employing proven ideation techniques, 3D modeling and mathematical simulation, and rapid prototype development.

Behind our doors you'll be empowered every day to own it, drive it, and do what it takes to design and develop the biggest breakthroughs in the industry. Meanwhile, you'll have the support and resources of the fastest-growing brand in the construction industry to make it happen.

You'll execute EXTREME OWNERSHIP through these duties and responsibilities:

      • Support the design and development of new products, as well as enhancements to existing products.
      • Design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot ground-up embedded electronics systems, including hardware and firmware, for low to mid-level complexity projects under the guidance of your supervisor.
      • Utilize technical expertise to create innovative functionality for electro-mechanical products including power tools, motors, batteries, and battery chargers.
      • Support prototype builds, bench testing, design validation, and root-cause analysis for electrical and electro-mechanical systems.
      • Collaborate with engineers, cross-functional partners, and electronic component suppliers to evaluate design options and support product development.
      • Design new experiments that simulate real world environments to validate the functionality, performance, and reliability of your new-to-world innovations.
      • Project areas could include embedded controller design, motor control, noise and vibration analysis, and magnetic analysis.

The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:

      • Currently pursing a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
      • Strong curiosity, problem-solving ability, and willingness to learn through hands-on product development in a dynamic environment.
      • Familiarity with CAD tools, particularly those relevant to electrical and PCB design.
      • Passion for hands-on product development.
      • Coursework, project, or internship experience related to circuits, embedded systems, controls, power electronics, PCB design, or firmware development.
      • Hands-on experience using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, or similar testing tools.
      • Ability to communicate clearly, collaborate within a project team, and adapt in a fast-paced engineering environment.

      Our Perks and Benefits:

      11-Week Paid Internship

      Summer Housing Support
