Engineering Technician Intern

We work together with our users through observation, interviews, and field research, making them part of the solution process. Our team defines critical benefits to our end users, constructs prototypes, and evaluates product designs considering unmet user needs, durability, materials, and manufacturing processes. Working cross functionally, we perform a wide variety of engineering and design tasks including translating user observations to insights, employing proven ideation techniques, 3D modeling and mathematical simulation, and rapid prototype development.

You'll execute EXTREME OWNERSHIP through these duties and responsibilities
- Assist with developmental testing, data acquisition and document results.
- Assembly of prototype tools and components.
- Ordering competitive tools and test materials.
- Operate various lab equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, data loggers.
- Tool teardown -- document wear & tool fatigue
- Effective and timely communication to work order requestors via email or other means.
- Manage lab space -- tools/parts/work surfaces/consumable materials.
- Assist with wiring harness repairs and builds.
- Ability to fabricate basic metal components.
What TOOLS you’ll bring with you:
- MS Office applications. 2D & 3D CAD system knowledge is a plus, but not required.
- Mig-welding knowledge is a plus, but not required.
- Hand soldering of surface mount and through-hole components onto prototype circuit boards preferred, but not required.
- Some knowledge of test concepts in the design and development of products and components.
- Strong mechanical aptitude. Some experience with using hand and shop tools is expected.
- Ability to reach out to cross-functional groups for reference or troubleshooting.
- Assist other working groups as needed or workload demands shift.
- Keeps steady pace as demands increase/ decrease.
- Strong desire to work with new product development teams.
- Perform setup for engineering developmental testing.
- The ability to read and understand technical drawings and wiring schematics.
- Operating fork-lift and overhead crane as needed.
