Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Data Science Intern to join our growing operations team in Milwaukee, WI. Your Role on Our Team:
Milwaukee Tool values candidates who have a strong focus on business acumen. As a Data Scientist, you will be working closely with business leaders and stakeholders to identify opportunities to leverage data to drive business outcomes with a focus on operations. Therefore, it is essential that you have a deep understanding of the business and the industry, as well as the ability to translate data insights into actionable recommendations for business partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in communication, exploratory data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning.
You’ll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
- Assist with cross-functional projects: Work alongside experienced team members to understand business problems and support the design of data-driven solutions.
- Support data analysis efforts: Use statistical methods and basic machine learning techniques to analyze data sets, develop models, and help uncover insights that contribute to business objectives.
- Contribute to data pipeline development: Collaborate with data engineering teams to help develop and maintain ETL/ELT processes.
- Participate in exploratory data analysis: Assist in identifying trends and patterns in manufacturing data under the guidance of senior team members.
- Document work clearly: Help document methodologies, processes, and findings in an organized and accessible manner.
- Other duties as assigned: Contribute to various tasks and projects as needed to support the team.
The TOOLS you’ll bring with you:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of data science and machine learning concepts.
- Proficiency in Python as a programming language
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a data-driven approach to decision making
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex analyses to technical and non-technical stakeholders
Other TOOLS we prefer you to have:
- Experience with Azure Cloud, Databricks, and Power BI
- Knowledge of SQL and database management.
- Experience with version control systems like Azure DevOps for CI/CD
- Understanding of big data technologies and frameworks.
- Familiarity with data manipulation and analysis libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, or similar.
- Experience in manufacturing or similar industries is a plus
